Gemma, is my wonderful wife and an inspiration to our two beautiful daughters. She is also too modest to give you a little insight into her reasons for completing the Try-a-tri, so I am writing this on her behalf.
Gemma can at times be impulsive (normally when buying things), but has surpassed herself this time and very much thrown herself in the deep end by signing up for the Tri-a-try. Where pregnancies or global pandemics may have delayed her participation in this event, her desire to complete this has never waned.
Throughout the spring, Gemma has shown nothing but a will and determination to succeed at this event, even though it has pushed her physically, but also mentally having completed the training in the main with people she has never met before, something which is very much out of her comfort zone. Gemma's prime motivation has been to show our daughters that they can succeed at anything in life, and to inspire them to follow their own dreams and overcome the obstacles that life can sometimes bring.
The Recovery College, an organisation close to our hearts, are an important asset to islander's lives here in Jersey, specifically those who experience episodes of poor mental health. This event allows Gemma to not only push herself to achieve her goal of completing this initial venture into Triathlon, but it also gives her an opportunity to raise some much needed funds for this very worthy cause.
If you have a few (or lots) of pounds to spare, any donation towards the Recovery College would be gratefully appreciated.
From a family who'll be cheering you on from the sidelines - Go get 'em love.
